Screening Canola Genotypes for Resistance to Ammonium Toxicity

نویسندگان

چکیده

Soil ammonium toxicity can decrease plant growth, and many crop species have low resistance to ammonium, including canola, an economically important crop. Different genotypes may differ in their toxicity, therefore determining if there are that exhibit variation ability tolerate soil is a research priority. Here, we evaluate how impacts canola root shoot growth characterise differences among regard toxicity. In the first experiment, eight chloride treatments five calcium nitrate were tested for impact on genotype Crusher TT, where high application (60 mg N/kg soil) significantly decreased dry weight of shoots roots acidified from pHCaCl2 5.9 5.6. second 30 screened at selected concentrations NH4+-N, using as control. There was wide sensitivity NH4+-N application. Genotypes G16, G26, G29 had greater weights highest N concentration all genotypes, G28 up 35% higher compared with other genotypes. contrast, G3, G13, G30 showed largest reduction weight, G23, Residual NH4+-N/kg sensitive than resistant suggesting lower use former. These results reveal potential selecting soil.

Field screening of safflower genotypes for resistance to charcoal rot disease

Nineteen safflower genotypes (Carthamus tinctorius L.) that originated from different geographical regions were screening for their response to infection with Macrophomina phaseolina, the charcoal rot pathogen at the research farm of Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Gorgan, Iran, in 2005. The plants were evaluated for length and width of necrotic lesion at the e...

An Alternative Field Method for Screening Soybean Genotypes for Resistance to Heterodera glycines.

The soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines) has become an increasingly severe problem in soybean production areas in Brazil. The development and use of resistant cultivars is the most efficient method of minimizing losses due to this pathogen. Our objective was to test the efficiency of an alternative method for screening soybean genotypes for resistance to H. glycines in field plots. The a...

Use of Physiological Parameters for Screening Drought Tolerant Barley Genotypes

With the aim of understanding and identifying the traits which can be used as the suitable criteria for quick screening of the water deficit tolerant barley genotypes, an experiment based on randomized complete blocks design with three replications was conducted during two years to evaluate the biochemical responses of 20 barley genotypes to full irrigation and terminal water stress in the fie...

Screening of New Sugarcane Genotypes for Resistance to Red Rot (glomerella Tucumanensis)

Preliminary investigations in South Africa into determining the resistance of sugarcane varieties to red rot (Glomerella tucumanensis) by means of an inoculation procedure, conducted in 1988-89, showed promise. Results of these trials, together with findings from industry-wide red rot surveys in the late 1980s, were used to provide a preliminary ranking of a number of released varieties. Variet...

Metabolomics differentiation of canola genotypes: toward an understanding of canola allelochemicals

Allelopathy is one crop attribute that could be incorporated in an integrated weed management system as a supplement to synthetic herbicides. However, the underlying principles of crop allelopathy and secondary metabolite production are still poorly understood including in canola. In this study, an allelopathic bioassay and a metabolomic analysis were conducted to compare three non-allelopathic...
